4 Stockings All Quilted and Completed!! YAY!

I quilted the muslin and made these stocking for a very sweet lady that we have known for years. She was looking and looking for stockings and was just about to give up. She posted on facebook wanting stockings for her family but just couldn't find just what she was looking for. I ask her if she would like for me to make them. I met her at our local quilt shop where she picked out her fabric. She chose muslin for the stocking then a tan color for the cuff and loop. I really love the way these turned out. So elegant looking I think. :)  I hope that she enjoys them. I delivered them to her today and she seemed to really like them.

Latest Block For My Quilt

Another block for my block of the month quilt. This one is the Star of Hope. I hope it will compliment the others. I am wanting to get this top done by the 17th. That is the date of our last class. I'm so close to having it done!!  I just have to put the sashing on this block and my Card Trick block then attach the blocks together and add the borders. This quilt will go on our bed. :)

Our new Masterbath. I LOVE IT!

Our new masterbath. Hickory cabinets on our black/gray tile floor. I just love it. I haven't even hung the shower curtain yet. Our guy hasn't finished the pipes yet for the sink. We have the 1/2 bath left to finish then we can get our final inspection done. :) (With 7 people in our family we would all enjoy having an extra 1 1/2 bathrooms!! We've always only had just one. Soon we'll have 2 1/2!!! YAY!!! )

Block of the Month Quilt.....nearing completion

Here is the quilt that I started working on back in Jan. 2009. After lots of things happening to keep me from being able to continue working on it or taking the class I put it away for a while. Then, 2011 came and I decided I am going to make time to finish this quilt. I signed back up for the class and am getting closer to being done. I hope to have the top completed by Dec. 17 which is the date of our last block of the month class.  This is only the first 3 rows of the quilt. I have 2 more rows then 2 borders to go on to complete it. :)  I really like it. I can't wait to get it finished.

Oct. 2011 Doll Quilt Swap

Doll Quilt Back with label

Doll Quilt Front

The pictures aren't the greatest. They were taken with my cellphone. I signed up for a swap for Oct. to do a doll quilt swap. Here is what I came up with. These were 2 things that someone had rehomed to me while cleaning out their sewing room. I thought they would be cute as a doll quilt. I think it turned out pretty good. At least the items have been repurposed and will have a new home. :)  This little doll quilt is taking a journey from Kentucky all the way to Bakersfield, California.  I hope to put it in the mail tomorrow. I sure hope she likes it.

Happy Thanksgiving. Here's what I am cooking....

Hoping you all have a very Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving. :)

My dear grandmother is in the hospital so my Mom has been there with her. My Dad has decided to cook the Ham and Turkey and some other things for our meal. I will be making the mashed potatoes, the potato salad, dressed eggs, oreo balls and baked beans. I wanted to share the recipes with you for the beans and the oreo balls just in case you've not tried either. I know there are other recipes out there for both of them. Check and see if the ingredients don't surprise you. ;0)

My All Time Favorite Baked Beans:

2 cans pork n beans (soup can size)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup catsup
1/2 cup Coca Cola
1 small onion, diced
2 tsp. dry mustard
2 strips bacon, cut into 1 in. pieces

Mix the beans, brown sugar, catsup, Coca Cola, onion and dry mustard and place in a casserole dish. Dot with the bacon. Bake at 300 for 1-1/2 to 2 hrs.

Reading about home schooling....I really enjoy this subject. Here's a link to some good reading. :)

http://www.largerfamilylife.com/2009/08/why-we-decided-to-homeschool-part-one.html  This is a blog that I frequent and just love! If you are considering or ever thought about home schooling your children please take a look. Thank you Tania for putting into words what a lot of other parents have gone through or are going through.

Angie

Been busy on the homefront since getting laid off from my job.

I have been busy since my last day of work, July 29. (Actually my parent's Anniversary)  I have been painting. So far we have 3 rooms painted and put back together. Other projects in the works now, plus beginning to home school our 5 children. I have always wanted to home school our children. My husband has finally agreed but is curious how we will accomplish everything each day. I will be praying very hard for mercy and guidance. The children are excited and wish that we could start right now. I want to wait until we have everything in order.  I hope to order our oldest son's curriculum and a few of the missing things for the other boys tomorrow. It should be here pretty quick and then we'll get started.  I know that a schedule will be a must! That is what is going to really help us. I just have to work that out. We will be doing Pre-K, 2nd grade, 4th grade: for the twins and 9th grade. My biggest challenge I believe will be keeping our Preschooler  quiet calm occupied while the others are working. There again that is where the schedule will come into play.

I haven't had time to work on any of my blocks that I need to finish. That is really looming over me. I have to get them done and send them all to their new homes. I also have a class this Saturday to attend. It usually doesn't take long but I have to get my block done for my class.

My sister had her baby today. She is a little cutie. Emily Elizabeth. She weighs 7 lb 2 oz and has a head full of hair. MG and I went to the hospital and I do believe that MG would have brought her home with us if I would have allowed. She told me that the baby could sit in the back seat on the way home.  :-)  I love that girl.  Boy did she feel big when my sister ask her if she wanted to hold her new cousin! I got a picture of her. My husband said, "Is she really holding her?" She was but I had my left hand behind her while I took the picture.

Well, enough for today. Just wanted to update my blog. I think I am busier now that I'm not working than when I was working. I know the kids have enjoyed having me home. I know I have enjoyed it myself.

My Little Sweetie giving a big cheesy grin. I love you Mary-Grace!!

This is our sweet little girl Mary-Grace. She has been sick with strep throat recently. She's beginning to feel better and I am so glad. These are her new sunglasses. Any time I take her picture and tell her to smile she has that cheese grin on her face. ;) I just love her to bits. She's 3 years old but sometimes acts like she's 30. She loves the camera. She likes having her picture made or even taking pictures of everything around her by herself. :) Just had to share.

Boomerang 5 Block Swap

Here are some of the blocks that I made over the weekend. I am doing the Boomerang 5 on the quilting board that I am a member of. There are a bunch of wonderful women and men that quilt on this board.  You take 35 fat Eigths and mail them to 35 different people. They will in turn be mailing out their fabric. You create a block using their fabric and their color choices. You get to pick what pattern. This is such a neat concept. You end up with 35 blocks to create whatever you like. You keep some fabric and you add one to it so you can do a quilt of 6 blocks X 6 blocks.

My quilt is going to be for our oldest son Lucas. He is 13 and all boy that is for sure. I was trying to think of what kind of quilt I could do for him so when this swap came up I just knew I should do this for him. So, I hope he likes what everyone will be creating for him.

I was wanting to get as many blocks done as I could while I had the weekend.  Saturday I was gone until late in the afternoon. I think I did pretty well over the weekend considering I was taking care of the family plus trying to sew.

This is my block for Janet (MOM). I hope it's not to bland. My husband seems to think it is. I just think it looks calming.  :)  I hope that Mom likes it.

This block was the block I did for JaneCat. She is making a quilt for her son. I hope it works for her.  :)

This block is for RoseySue. I loved the flowers in this one.  :)  I hope I did it some justice.

This next couple I did for some others. I will have to double check who they are for because my info is at home. They were mailed out today. With people having different screen names as real names it throws me off. Doesn't take much. HA HA!! I believe this first one is for KReinhart. She does the QOV.

I believe this one is for Selfhunter....

I think this one is for MFQS

That's all for now folks. I will post more when I make them. I hope that the people that I am swapping with like what I made for them. I'm going to have to swap up patterns. I just hate to cut the fabric up into little bits though.  Have a terr....ific day!

What I have been using lately to sew on.

1951 Singer 99K Sewing machine. I call her Baby. She sews like a dream. Love it! My Mom and Dad had this gem at their house. I was talking about old machines one day and they have several!!

Graduation....

This is our oldest son Lucas. He just graduated 8th grade. I also have his little sister that wanted to wear his cap and gown too in these pictures.  Mary-Grace has a while to go before graduating. She's only 3. Hard to believe that Lucas is 13 now and going to be a Freshman.

Chemo Caps made by me.

I was ask to make some chemo caps for a friend for a lady that she works with. I was very happy to do it for her. She gave me money to go shopping to pick out the fabric for this lady. I tried to pick out a variety of fabric so she would have a selection of things to wear. I am making four for her and here are the first 2.  I sewed them both on the Singer 99K you see in the picture. I call her Baby.  ;-)

Finished Baby Quilt

Here's the baby quilt that I made for my cousin and his wife for their new baby. I had originally planned to applique the baby's name on it. They changed the name so I am glad that I found out before doing so.  This was the softest quilt ever. I just loved it. I hope they enjoy it too.  :)  I worked on this off and on for quite a while.

My label was made by a lady that does a fabulous job!  They are so much nicer than any little chinsy label you could get at Wal-Mart. These things are big too.

This is her blog: http://threadsgaloresewmuchmore.blogspot.com/  Here's a link of some of the other labels that I got from her. I put a quarter by them so that you could see the size of the labels.  http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-102296-1.htm

It's been a while since my last post.

Block for the Monthly Block Swap that I do.

Another block for the swap.

Our little girl is growing up. She's 3 now and rides a big girl bike.

She saw a little girl in the grocery store and wanted braids in her hair too. =)
It's been a while since I've put anything on my blog. It has been neglected for sure. I need to make sure I start blogging more again. With working and home I've just had a lot going on. It seems like there just isn't enough time in the day.  I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. You go to work, come home rush to make dinner, now I'm getting my husband off to work then time for bed for the kids. Get them all bathed and in the bed, whew. I'm just spent.

I have been trying to paint and declutter our house. My sweet Dad came over and he's trying to help me get it done. I think he feels bad for me.  ;-)  So, hopefully my kitchen will be done. =)

I am going to post a few pictures because lets face it-who doesn't love seeing pictures on a blog, right?
