I have a friend at work that is retiring next month. I am working on a UK Wildcat Quilt for her. I'm excited to see how it turns out.
I signed up to do a secret pal exchange at www.quiltinghaven.com It is a site that I enjoy going to and reading and chatting with other quilters. I wanted to share my packages from my dear swap partner. She has been so nice to me, and our little girl. ;) Please excuse my pictures, they are taken from my cell phone.
This is my August package from my special friend. She surprised my dear Mary-Grace with her very own scarf and she LOVES IT!! :) She sent two great magazine. I love house blocks so I was very excited to see this one. The other magazine is a huge one! The fabrics are great and I will definitely be using them. The pins are the ones I use that I never have enough of. ;) I loved the little compartments will come in handy with everything in my sewing room....if I ever get in there to mess with it.

This my package from July. It has the scarf that Mary-Grace is modeling in the picture below that my secret pal sent for me. :) There's a recipe here for Eight Layer Casserole (this sounds good-I'm going to have to try it out. It serves 8 so that will be great for our big family, a pair of scissors, a glue stick-I use these all the time, a note pad, a dishcloth-I can't wait to use. I clean for a lady that uses these. They still look great time after time. The fabric is great. I love the colors. Can't wait for the weather to turn cool so Mary-Grace and I can wear our scarves. :)

Dinner last night was Taco Salad. We used chips, lettuce, taco meat, cheddar & mozzarella cheese, chili beans, and sour cream. :) I also added salsa on top after I took my photo. We used our fine china as you can see. ;)
Angiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00641632022923550194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5883200361275483641.post-69084461180077306982013-08-20T17:58:00.003-05:002013-08-20T17:58:36.678-05:00It has been well over a year since I've posted anything.

1 Baguette French Bread (cut into 18-24 slices)

Olive Oil

1 pkg Homemade Comfort Meatballs (or frozen), bite sized

1-1/2 cups spaghetti sauce

1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

Preheat oven to 350. Meanwhile, slice your bread. Brush each slice with olive oil on one side, just coat with pastry brush. Line the bottom and the side with the bread slices...oil side up...slightly overlapping the slices on the side. You won't need to grease your dish for this recipe. Use a deep casserole dish, I made the recipe in a smaller 8x8 pan - but depending how much you want to make you can use a 9x13 pan too.

Bake bread for about 10 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. In a separate bowl, mix meatballs & spaghetti sauce to coat (this is a perfect recipe for left over spaghetti and meatballs too). Remove the bread from the oven and spoon the meatball mixture into the dish on top of the bread. Return to oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until thoroughly heated through in the center. Pull out at about 25 minutes and cover with the mozzarella cheese and baked it for another 5 minutes.

Especially when it’s as easy to make as this Homemade Baking Mix. I don’t make fresh biscuits nearly as often as I crave them, for one reason only. I’m lazy.

Bread isn’t a nutritional requirement when planning my evening meals so it’s often left out of the equation. Not, that I don’t love it. It’s just that when the clock strikes five I want to be done with my day and only do the work that is required of me.

That ‘s the great thing about this mix. You whip it up one day, keep it in the fridge and any time you want fresh biscuits you take a couple cups out, add some milk and bake it up. You can also use this mix for any recipe that calls for a bisquick/baking mix. No need to go to the store when you have this stashed away in your freezer.

Since we are a small family this recipe is enough to last us a while. * 1 cup of mix will yield about 6 biscuits.

To make Pancakes:
Mix 2 cups of mix with 1 cup milk and 2 eggs. Cook on hot griddle.
*I have not made the pancakes myself but have heard rave reviews about using this mix for them.
*As with the biscuits you can add any flavouring or other ingredient you would like, such as chocolate chips or blueberries.

Corn Bread

Stir together:
1-1/2 cups corn meal
2 cups flour
2/3 cup sugar (She uses Splenda)
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

Mix in:
2 cups milk
2 eggs (I always put 3)
1/4 cup canola oil

Spoon into two 8x8" baking pans. Bake about 20 minutes at 350°. Or bake in a 9x13" pan for 25-30 minutes or until bread tests done.

I have made this so many times! I double it and use my big camping skillet. I have taken it to church and the skillet came back empty! :) I use 5 eggs when I double it (doubling everything else and cook for around an hour-I just test to see when it's done). Super yummy with chili or beans or just by itself with butter. YUMMY!Angiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00641632022923550194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5883200361275483641.post-72435112852061359922011-12-21T12:15:00.000-06:002011-12-21T12:15:05.045-06:004 Stockings All Quilted and Completed!! She was looking and looking for stockings and was just about to give up. She posted on facebook wanting stockings for her family but just couldn't find just what she was looking for. I ask her if she would like for me to make them. I met her at our local quilt shop where she picked out her fabric. She chose muslin for the stocking then a tan color for the cuff and loop. I really love the way these turned out. So elegant looking I think. :) I hope that she enjoys them. I delivered them to her today and she seemed to really like them.Angiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00641632022923550194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5883200361275483641.post-73743422390329493192011-12-05T14:46:00.000-06:002011-12-05T14:46:04.414-06:00Latest Block For My Quilt

Another block for my block of the month quilt. This one is the Star of Hope. I hope it will compliment the others. I am wanting to get this top done by the 17th. That is the date of our last class. I'm so close to having it done!! I just have to put the sashing on this block and my Card Trick block then attach the blocks together and add the borders.
Here is the quilt that I started working on back in Jan. 2009. After lots of things happening to keep me from being able to continue working on it or taking the class I put it away for a while. Then, 2011 came and I decided I am going to make time to finish this quilt. I signed back up for the class and am getting closer to being done. I hope to have the top completed by Dec. 17 which is the date of our last block of the month class. This is only the first 3 rows of the quilt. I have 2 more rows then 2 borders to go on to complete it. :) I really like it. I can't wait to get it finished.Angiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00641632022923550194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5883200361275483641.post-21891115768771685172011-11-27T15:29:00.000-06:002011-11-27T15:29:16.261-06:00Oct. 2011 Doll Quilt Swap
Doll Quilt Back with label

Here is what I came up with. These were 2 things that someone had rehomed to me while cleaning out their sewing room. I thought they would be cute as a doll quilt. I think it turned out pretty good. At least the items have been repurposed and will have a new home. :) This little doll quilt is taking a journey from Kentucky all the way to Bakersfield, California. I hope to put it in the mail tomorrow. Here's what I am cooking....Hoping you all have a very Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving. :)

My dear grandmother is in the hospital so my Mom has been there with her. My Dad has decided to cook the Ham and Turkey and some other things for our meal. I will be making the mashed potatoes, the potato salad, dressed eggs, oreo balls and baked beans. I wanted to share the recipes with you for the beans and the oreo balls just in case you've not tried either. I know there are other recipes out there for both of them. Check and see if the ingredients don't surprise you. ;0)

My All Time Favorite Baked Beans:

2 cans pork n beans (soup can size)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup catsup
1/2 cup Coca Cola
1 small onion, diced
2 tsp. dry mustard
2 strips bacon, cut into 1 in. pieces

Mix the beans, brown sugar, catsup, Coca Cola, onion and dry mustard and place in a casserole dish. Dot with the bacon. Bake at 300 for 1-1/2 to 2 hrs.
(Actually my parent's Anniversary) I have been painting. So far we have 3 rooms painted and put back together. Other projects in the works now, plus beginning to home school our 5 children. I have always wanted to home school our children. My husband has finally agreed but is curious how we will accomplish everything each day. I will be praying very hard for mercy and guidance. The children are excited and wish that we could start right now. I want to wait until we have everything in order. I hope to order our oldest son's curriculum and a few of the missing things for the other boys tomorrow. It should be here pretty quick and then we'll get started. I know that a schedule will be a must! That is what is going to really help us. I just have to work that out. We will be doing Pre-K, 2nd grade, 4th grade: for the twins and 9th grade. My biggest challenge I believe will be keeping our Preschooler <strike>quiet</strike> <strike>calm</strike> occupied while the others are working. There again that is where the schedule will come into play.

It usually doesn't take long but I have to get my block done for my class.

She told me that the baby could sit in the back seat on the way home. :-) I love that girl. Boy did she feel big when my sister ask her if she wanted to hold her new cousin! I got a picture of her. My husband said, "Is she really holding her?" She was but I had my left hand behind her while I took the picture.

Well, enough for today. Just wanted to update my blog. I think I am busier now that I'm not working than when I was working. She has been sick with strep throat recently. She's beginning to feel better and I am so glad. These are her new sunglasses. Any time I take her picture and tell her to smile she has that cheese grin on her face. ;) I just love her to bits. She's 3 years old but sometimes acts like she's 30. She loves the camera. She likes having her picture made or even taking pictures of everything around her by herself. :) Just had to share.Angiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00641632022923550194noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5883200361275483641.post-76360771297196681412011-07-06T11:52:00.000-05:002011-07-06T11:52:24.933-05:00The latest throw I am working on.....
